Tofu bites

I made this for my step-daughters since they are both vegetarians and they loved it. Even the non-vegetarians liked it! It is very simple and can be embellished with any ingredient.

1 Package of Cream Cheese
1 Package of DRY vegetable soup mix
1 chunk of Tofu (not extra firm) I used a chunk about the size of my palm.
2 cans of crescent rolls

Let the cream cheese sit out for about 30 minutes before you make it so it will get soft. Mix the cream cheese, dry soup mix, and tofu with a blender or by hand until smooth.
Lay out the crescent rolls and fill the center with 1-2 spoonfulls of the mixture. Wrap the edges around and seal with your fingers to make a pocket. Bake according to directions on the can.

This recipe is originally my husband's recipe for "Chicken squares" which is chicken, cream cheese, chives, and crescent rolls. It can be made into just about anything. Enjoy!

Money Saving Tip

I was recently turned on to a really cool website called shortcuts.com. It is a site where you can download FREE grocery coupons to your loyalty shopping card (aka your Kroger card). It is very easy to set up. First, go to shortcuts.com and register your email and grocery store loyalty card. There are several different stores to choose from, but Kroger is the only one listed that is around these parts. You can then view all coupons and add the ones you want and they download to your card. No clipping and keeping up with coupons! Although it is up to you to make sure they get applied at the checkout line. You can also print off what coupons are on your card or create a shopping list with your coupons added to it. I'm still figuring it out, but I think it will be my new best friend! You also have to check back with the site periodically to see what new coupons have been added and sometimes they even send you an email to update you on new coupons.

Fun Picture

I Know.....it's a little late, but I really wanted to share my homemade costume with everyone. If you can't tell we are Jack and Sally from "The Nightmare before Christmas." I made Jack's head out of paper mache-which is flour, water, and newspaper draped over a balloon and then left to dry. Once dried, I stuck in a pin and popped the balloon, then I cut off the bottom for the head to fit through. After that I spray painted it white and cut out fabric for the eyes and mouth which I glued on using a hot glue gun. Two nose holes were cut out so he could see. The Tie is made out of black construction paper with a cardboard backing. I drew on the white lines with "whiteout" and then hot glued a binder clip to the back so I could just clip it on his white T-shirt. The pinstripe jacket came from a thrift store for $4.00(although you can't see the stripes in the picture). My dress is made from four fabric colors...pink, black, yellow, and teal. I cut the patches out and sewed them with black yarn onto an oversized dress that I bought for $5.00. I drew on the designs with a marker and black paint. The wig was made by my grandmother by taking long strands of deep red yarn and sewing it with her sewing machine onto a red toboggan. My mom drew on fake eyelashes with an eye pencil to give my eyes a "doll look." Although it was alot of work-I really had fun making it and I only spent about $25.00 for both costumes compared to the $40.00 for each I would have paid had we bought them.

Mug Cake!

This Recipe is very cool. I was impressed with the results.
It is a 3minute microwavable cake. I never knew

I could have chocolate cake this fast!

CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips(optional)
a small splash of vanilla essence
1 large coffee mug or soup mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla essence, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes. The
cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
